I have been repeatedly having the same difficulty over these past three weeks trying to reinstall theHP OfficeJet 5610 All-in-One Printer that Windows XP's class registry apparently "forgot" about immediately after I tested my Dell Vostro 1000's overallireless connectivity by temporarily moving it from study-and-living-room to bedroom-and-desk last month( This computer's local hard-disk was just fully cleaned up and re-formatted to purge it of otherwise-incorrigible errors; then I had Windows xP and all "salvagable" folders or files and programs copied to an external hard disk--BlackArmor Backup kept on getting stuck or hung-application-frozen,so I, in impatience-riven irritation, ended it except to clean up the disk. Not until the week of February were these repairs virtually complete ). Since I reconnected the printer's USB cable to the USB port--this hardware was safely removed--WindowsXP has failed to either rcognize the devices or recognize the "improperly"archaic digital signatures! Not until today, after several reinstallations--wisely I installed from Hewlett-Packard's website, not the three-year-old installation CD--did he Found New Hardware Wizard disclose what the REAL problem was:
"An error occurred during installation of the device.
The class installer ha denied the request to install or upgrade this device. Clic Finish to close this wizard."
Now I can"say", 'Small wonder why the wizards, in their dumbness, refused to open te blatantly apparent .inf files or help me look CAREFULLY in the CD that contained the .dll's or .inf files needed for driver installation!'
Unfortunately, I haveno idea what to do in order to permanently elete this significant, annoying error; furthermore, there is apparently neither a concise, step-by-step guide for what to do to correct this problem and as far as I kow, "downloadable-and easy-to-install" fixes are ALL free to downoad, but will fix detected errors for currenty-unaffordable or exorbitant fees . Does anyone have any ideas (a)what to do or (b)which FREE or very-low-cost($1 if by credit card...or otherwise allowing payments by check or money order later) fixes to install?(
