Hi,
I'm new to Windows 2000 Server (I'm more used to novell) but We have made the switchover to a windows 2000 server with windows XP clients.
But there's a problem. When we access an application that resides on the Win2k server everything looks fine. The startup of the software goes well. But as soon as we try to access the data that is on the fileserver we sometimes have to wait for 2 minutes until something happens.
I have made some snif on the network, but absolutely nothing happens during that time. When I ty to do the same from the console of the win2k server the same problem occurs. The application I am using is a DOS based application. I hav a new (windows) version, but that one has the same problem. So do all my other programs.
I did get a hotfix from Microsoft for Win2000 Server and for Windows XP Prof, but that did not help at all.
The server is a Dell Poweredge 4600 with 2.4 Dual Xeon processors and 1 GB RAM. It is newly installed, so plenty of diskspace.
It is the only server in the network, and is the Active Directorie Server, DHCP, WINS an File/Print Server.
I don't know what else to do. Until this is solved we can not use the server. We are back to the old novell-server. That works lik a charm.
Does anyone hav any idea ?
Thanks in advance,
Edwin.
